Washington DC hosts 20,000 anti-vaccine mandate protest

  • A crowd of up to 20,000 gathered in Washington DC Saturday to protest ongoing vaccine mandates, including those in the Capitol
  • Many went maskless, in defiance of rules imposed in the Capitol to combat the spread of the Omicron variant
  • Meat Loaf’s songs, including I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That), were also heard blaring out at the event – the singer, who was vocally opposed to vaccine mandates and masks – reportedly died of COVID 
  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an outspoken figurehead of the anti-vaccination movement, was a keynote speaker
  • ‘Americans want democracy back, and this rally is a demand by Americans to get their democracy back,’ Kennedy said
