Serial arsonist suspected in Reno fires; at least 14 reported in 2020

A string of fires reportedly set by a serial arsonist is the latest of several notable arsons in Reno in 2020.

Two people died and at least 15 were injured from two separate arson incidents earlier in the year, with cars and dumpsters set on fire and a large construction project set ablaze. Eleven arsons over the last few weeks in south Reno are among the most recent destruction.

The Reno Fire Department (RFD) is searching for a person that they say has intentionally set multiple dumpster and vehicle fires in the 4500 and 4600 blocks of Mira Loma Drive.

On Sept. 20, RFD reported three dumpster fires and an exterior vegetation fire against an occupied apartment. The next day, firefighters responded to multiple vehicle fires and a vegetation fire in the same area near 4600 Mira Loma Dr.
